March 06, 2002:

A late afternoon garage fire on Lake Shore Road was quickly extinguished by Lake Shore firefighters. The fire, reported around the four o'clock hour, initiated a full response from Lake Shore as well as a mutual aid response from the Big Tree and Woodlawn fire companies. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a sealed garage with smoke showing. The exterior garage door proved warm to the touch.

After laying in from a hydrant located across the street from the house, firefighters deployed a 1 3/4" line into the house. An initial attack was made from inside the house in order to push any fire out thereby protecting the attached house. After making entry into the garage, firefighters discovered a small content fire. The fire was quickly extinguished and the structure was ventilate. Damage to the structure was minimal and fire crews quickly picked-up and returned to service.

The Town of Hamburg Police Department is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
