Motorcycle Crash Injures Two

May 22, 2005:

At fifteen minutes after four, the Newton-Abbott Fire Company was alerted to a report of a motorcycle crash at the intersection of McKinley Parkway and Lake Avenue. Reports from the scene indicated that there were multiple patients with possibly one patient suffering from an amputated limb. Shortly after the initial dispatch, the Big Tree Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to respond mutual-aid to assist with EMS transport.

Units from both companies arrived within minutes to find two patients down in the roadway. Crews quickly stabilized and packaged the patients for transport to the regional trauma center. One patient was transported by Big Tree's ambulance and another by Rural/Metro. Newton-Abbott remained on scene to assist the Town of Hamburg Police Department in closing the roadway for the subsequent investigation. An ongoing investigation will be required to determine the exact cause of the crash.
