| 05/07/2006 Hamburg, NY: The Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Company hosted a live burn training exercise on Saturday morning in a donated house on LaSalle Ave.. Companies from throughout the town of Hamburg, including Big Tree, participated in this valuable training. Firefighters were given the opportunity to extinguish actual fires in a realistic atmosphere. Crews took turns acting as attack crew, backup hose crew, interior truck company, and exterior truck company. Fires were set in various parts of the structure and allowed to engulf the room prior to firefighters moving in to extinguish the fire and conduct overhaul operations. Approximately 15 various evolutions were conducted throughout the morning. On Sunday morning , the house was prepared to burn to the ground. Once apparatus was relocated and readied, the building was set on fire and allowed to burn to the ground. Firefighters and curious neighbors watched as the structure quickly became fully involved and burned to the ground. Photos by Branden Watson
