Big Tree Purchases Multi-Gas Detector

March 25, 2004

With the number of HAZMAT and carbon monoxide calls on the rise, members of the Big Tree Volunteer Fire Company recently purchased an additional multi-gas detector. This new detector, manufactured by MSA, is capable of detecting O2, H2S, CO and combustible gas. Manufactured specifically for rescue personnel, the new Orion multi-gas detector can be used for confined space rescue, responses to gas leaks, responses to carbon monoxide leaks, and in numerous other situations where atmospheric monitoring is required (e.g., structure fires).

Upon completion of in-service training, the new gas detector will be deployed to Big Tree's new Heavy Rescue which operates out of the BayView Road station. The unit was purchased from Churchville Fire Apparatus our of Rochester, New York.
